The tenth meeting of the Global Leaders Group (GLG) on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) will be held virtually and chaired by H.E Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley on 16 October 2024 from 15:00 to 17:30 CEST. The GLG comprises world leaders and experts from across sectors working together to accelerate political action on AMR.

The GLG works in six priority areas and collaborates globally with governments, agencies, civil society, and the private sector through a One Health approach to advise on and advocate for prioritized political actions for the mitigation of drug-resistant infections through responsible and sustainable access to and use of antimicrobials.

The Quadripartite Joint Secretariat (QJS) on Antimicrobial Resistance, a joint effort by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), provides secretariat support for the Group.

At the meeting, GLG members will receive an update on the 4th Ministerial Conference on AMR to be held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 15-16 November 2024, and discuss GLG involvement. GLG members will also discuss how GLG political advocacy can advance the implementation of commitments made at the UN General Assembly High-level Meeting on AMR in September 2024.

A meeting report will be available on the GLG website after the meeting.
