Anahit Avanesyan was appointed Minister of Health in January 2021 having previously served as First Deputy Minister of Health. She started working in health sector governance in 2018 as Deputy Minister.
She has over 15 years’ experience in legal and regulatory fields in the public and private sectors, as well as in governance and management. She is specialized in legal and regulatory issues including policy and regulatory frameworks for pharmaceutical products.
Minister Avanesyan also has extensive experience working with non-governmental organizations and she is a strong supporter of women’s rights and participation in governance.
Ms Avanesyan studied at Yerevan State University, specializing in civil law and graduating with a master’s degree in law. She successfully completed the master’s programme in law at the American University of Armenia in 2004
