The eleventh meeting of the Global Leaders Group (GLG) on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) will be held virtually and chaired by H.E Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley on 29 April 2025 from 15:00 to 16:30 CEST. The GLG comprises world leaders and experts from across sectors working together to accelerate political action on AMR.
The GLG works in six priority areas and collaborates globally with governments, agencies, civil society, and the private sector through a One Health approach to advise on and advocate for prioritized political actions for the mitigation of drug-resistant infections through responsible and sustainable access to and use of antimicrobials.
The Quadripartite Joint Secretariat (QJS) on Antimicrobial Resistance, a joint effort by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), provides secretariat support for the GLG.
During this meeting, GLG members will review and update their strategic priorities and Rolling Action Plan. The Quadripartite Joint Secretariat will subsequently present the latest progress on establishing the Independent Panel on Evidence for Action against AMR (IPEA). This will be followed by an interactive discussion where GLG members will provide their expert input on critical elements for IPEA's establishment and operationalization.
A meeting report will be available on the GLG website after the meeting.
